The Looming Specter of your Steam Library

Be honest. How many games are in your Steam library? A dozen? A couple of dozen? Fifty? Hundreds? It’s a pretty common lament for gamers in the modern era that they have too many games to ever complete in their lifetime. I myself have a whopping 66 (a number that would sound insane to a younger me whose only experience with gaming was my dad’s Playstation 2 and the 2-3 games I owned for my Gameboy Advance SP at any given time) and I think it’s a generous estimate to say that I’ve played even half of them. It’s not nearly as bad as some people I’ve talked to, with entire game franchises in their digital libraries never to be played. And I think it’s not too much of a stretch to say that Steam is not only aware of but actually promoting and profiting off of this behavior. Think about it, do they have any real incentive to get their customers to actually play the games they buy? They have every motivation to encourage more hoarding of games. So what can we do about it? Well… buy fewer games I suppose. No real point in buying most stuff on launch anyway since it will likely be a buggy mess. (looking at you Jedi Survivor) You might as well wait a while, and play one of those titles that you’ve forgotten
